MONSTER PLANTS:
For this project we took part in a trip to the Eden Project to start with experimental and observational drawings, looking at plants and observing the possible techniques and styles of illustration for turning the plants into futuristic 'plant monsters'.
Here are some of my developmental drawings and my two finished pieces for this project...
This was my favourite project of the module, as i was able to use my drawing skills more than anything else. The idea of tree Nymphs came from the relation of plant life to 'mother nature' and the idea that the woman form is at one with nature. My black and white illustration of the Nymph is my favourite, I took inspiration from frog textures and skin patterns from research, and works well as it has a tribal type of appearance.
Also when i was younger I made a version of a piece called the Masked Mermaid by Salvador Dahli and i found this good for research and referencing drawings.
