Dry point was for a while my least favourite print process, but after using a clearer line and better shape for my logo, and using several different designs, i was pleased with the outcomes. Using one design for the outline of the logo and then another assatate layer for the shading in a different colour.
This is my dry point during the process...

PALEONTOLOGY RECONSTRUCTION:
This project started off with a description of an extinct animal, then with 3 tasks.
Number one was to use reseach and developmental drawings to come up with a series of shilouettes made up of black shapes, number two was to produce a 2 colour (black and orange) illustration, and number three, a full colour illustration.
My favourite again is the two colour illustration, a bold image with clean lines and an unrealistic appearance, wihch works well showing the viciousness of the lizard.

MONSTER PLANTS:
For this project we took part in a trip to the Eden Project to start with experimental and observational drawings, looking at plants and observing the possible techniques and styles of illustration for turning the plants into futuristic 'plant monsters'.
Here are some of my developmental drawings and my two finished pieces for this project...
This was my favourite project of the module, as i was able to use my drawing skills more than anything else. The idea of tree Nymphs came from the relation of plant life to 'mother nature' and the idea that the woman form is at one with nature. My black and white illustration of the Nymph is my favourite, I took inspiration from frog textures and skin patterns from research, and works well as it has a tribal type of appearance.
Also when i was younger I made a version of a piece called the Masked Mermaid by Salvador Dahli and i found this good for research and referencing drawings.
EDITORIAL:
The next task we were given was to create a full bleed A3 editorial illustration, after chosing an article to work from. I chose the article titled; "I too have shot a stag, but the emporer killer still appals me". This article is all about the mysterious shooting of Britains largest recored stag which resided in Devon, it's antlers reaching up to 9ft from the ground. A powerful, majestic creature, killed in the night, by a huntsman that still remains unknown, the article talks about the publicity brought to the huntsman, straight after the press attention that the stag itself recieved.
I started on this project by researching illustration styles and the article, and experimenting with different styles and layouts from thumbnails. After having a group tutorial and recieveing feedback from already completed work, i chose to take a less detailed image, and work with key colour, calligraphy, and shape rather than focus on intrcacy.
Here are some of the sketchbook pages and final pieces for this project...

ALRIGHT STEVE!
for this project we were required to produce a series of portraits of a celebrity. I was given Steve Irwin which i am glad of as he is widely known, allowing me to be less accurate in my illustrations, using more relative image than extremely detailed drawings. I worked in quite a sketchy, rough manner, but i like the outcomes which also fit in with the theme of wildlife and the outback as Steve is from Australia.
Heres some of the illustrations i came up with...

ANDY'S ARK
For this project I asked to explore and produce Adobe Illustrator images of any animal of my choice.
I am just starting to experiment with techniques and methods of creating my desired outcome. I'm going for quite a cartoon styled, but natural in colour and textured piece and my chosen animal is a Praying Mantis as there is opportunity for detail and lots of shape.
This is what ive got so far, just a few images I've created on Illustrator, using an online sourced image and tracing on Illustrator and adding colour and texture. :)
